Gender stereotype is having a certain attitude towards a specific gender. In a work environment the male gender is usually considered stronger and more capable which can be a disadvantage for many women when trying to get hired. Higher up positions are typically male which makes people associate men with strength and women with weakness. Due to this assumption, many people portray women in films as if they are dependent on a man. In many Disney films, the woman in power gets into trouble and is fully reliant on a male to save her.

The female characters are always seen to rely on the Male characters which has a negative impact on the female children watching these films.

In the 16 most popular movies from 1937 to 1995 women were more likely to be doing housework and men were more likely to have more authority than women. In the movies many of the women need to meet the standard of men in the real world, furthermore, many girls who watch these movies feel the need to imitate these princesses and use them as their standard.
